【摘要】:Thistestmethodmeasurestheamountofformaldehydethatisreleasedfromacoatingunderlaboratoryconditions.Theamountofformaldehydeavailableforreleasefromacoatingmayvarydependingoncomposition,andmaydecreaseasthesampleages.Thistestmethodmaybeusedfortypicalairdriedpaintswherewateristhemajorvolatilematerial.Theusefulrangeisestimatedtobefrom10ppmto1000ppmformaldehydeinthesample.Significantamountsofothervolatilealdehydes,suchasacetaldehyde,arereportedtocauseaninterferencewiththedeterminationofformaldehyde.Thislimitationisnotexpectedtocauseaproblemformostcommonwaterreduciblecoatings.Samplescontainingorganicsolventsasthemajorvolatilecomponenthavenotbeenevaluatedandarenotexpectedtobecompatiblewiththistestmethod.1.1Thistestmethodmaybeusedtomeasuretheamountofformaldehydeevolvedfromair-drywaterreduciblecoatingsutilizinglatices,resinemulsions,orwaterreduciblealkyds.Theresultsmaybeusedtodefinethex201C;freex201D;formaldehydeevolvedfromasampleundercontrolledlaboratoryconditions.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
